Tom Kitt, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Jeff Whitty, et. al. to Create New Musical Bring It On

Lin-Manuel Miranda, Tom Kitt, Amanda Green, and Jeff Whitty are writing Bring It On: The Musical, which is expected to have a developmental regional production in early 2011, which will be followed by a national tour.

Tony Award winner Andy Blankenbuehler will direct and choreograph the show, which is set in the world of competitive cheerleading, and Alex Lacamoire will serve as orchestrator, arranger, and music supervisor The show will be produced by Universal Pictures Stage Productions along with Charlie Lyons and Armyan Bernstein of Beacon Communications.

Miranda is represented on Broadway by In the Heights; Kitt is represented on Broadway by Next to Normal; Green’s Broadway credits include High Fidelity; and Whitty is best known as the author of Avenue Q. Blankenbuehler won the Tony Award for his choreography of In the Heights and received a nomination for his work on 9 to 5.
