Hairspray Director Adam Shankman to Join FOX’s So You Think You Can Dance

Adam Shankman, who directed and choreographed the film version of Hairspray, will become a permanent judge on FOX’s So You Think You Can Dance, starting October 27. Shankman, who will sit alongside judges Nigel Lythgoe and Mary Murphy, has been a guest judge on the series several times.

Shankman also directed the short film Prop 8 the Musical and the film Bedtime Stories, starring Adam Sandler. His next film, Topper, starring Steve Martin, is scheduled to be released in 2010 and he is reportedly working on Hairspray 2.
