Midtown International Theatre Festival Announces 2008 Awards

Midtown International Theatre Festival has announced the winners of this year's MITF Awards, which were held at the Bleecker Street Theatre on September 5.

OPA! led the field with five wins, including Outstanding Overall Production of a Commercial Division Production; Outstanding Music & Lyrics for Mari Carras, Nicholas Carras and Nicholas Kitsopoulos; Producer's Award for Double Play Connections, LLC & Wild Bird Productions, Inc. (TBG Theatre); Outstanding Ensemble in a Musical; and an individual performance award for Jan Leslie Harding.

Love, Incorporated won for Outstanding Overall Production of a Musical, as well as lead actor Jonathan Rayson, and supporting actor Tally Sessions. The award for Outstanding Overall Production of a New Comedy Play went to Prince Trevor Amongst the Elephants, which also won for playwright Duncan Pflaster and lead actor Carlos Rafael Fernandez. The award for Outstanding Overall Production of a New Drama Play went to Bubby's Shadow, which picked up additional awards for lead actor Eric Percival and featured actress Randi Sobol.
