59E59 Theaters has announced the line-up for its Fall 2008 season, which will kick off with The First Irish Festival, September 6-28. Produced by Origin Theatre Company, it will include End of Lines: evening of five short plays inspired by journeys on the NYC subway, written by Gary Duggan, Abbie Spellen, Ursula Rani Sarma, Pat Kinevane, and Morna Regan, and directed by David Sullivan, Julia Gibson, George C Heslin, Fiana Toibin, and Alyse Rothman; Disco Pigs, by Edna Walsh, directed by Dan Brick and Linda Murray and starring Madeline Carr and Rex Daugherty; Mojo Mickyo, written by Owen Mc Cafferty, directed by Stephen Russell, and starring Colin Hamell, and Derry Woodhouse; Love, Peace, and Robbery, by Liam Heylin, directed by Kerry Waters Lucas, and starring Matthew Keenan, Eric Lucas, and Bruce Rauscher.
The week of September 29-week of October 13 will see The Night Carter Was Bad, a dramatic comedy about the misbehavior and haphazard love life of a commitment-phobe named Carter. Melanie Dreyer will direct Andreas Jungwirth's Outside Inn (October 1-19), starring Roger Grunwald, Markus Hirnigel, and Gabriele Schafer. This murder mystery follows a disillusioned German civic engineer who unintentionally participates in the death of his boss.
Made in Poland: A Festival of New Polish Plays will run from the week of October 20 through the week of November 24, and include The Files, written and directed by Ewa Wojciak and Marcin Keszycki, and starring Wójciak, Keszycki, Adam Borowski, and Tadeusz Janiszewski; Made in Poland, by Przemyslaw Wojcieszek, directed by Jackson Gay; and The Sandbox and The First Time, two one-acts by Michal Walczak, directed by Piotr Kruszynski and Marcy Arlin.
Next up will be Improbable Frequency (November 28-January 4), a musical comedy by Arthur Riordan and Bell Helicopter. Produced by Dublin's Rough Magic, this joyous surreal satire lifts the lid on Ireland's beloved neutrality and cuts to the heart of the tempestuous affair with its nearest neighbor -- England! Finally, 59E59 Theaters will offer New House Under Construction (December 3-January 4), written and directed by Alan Hruska. The play is about two married couples approaching forty who reunite in the lake district town where they all grew up.
