It's a good bet the folks at WalMart aren't wearing smiley faces about Walmartopia the Musical!. The political satire about the "evil" giant store chain first intrigued audiences last year at the New York International Fringe Festival and it now begins a commercial run on August 23 at the Minetta Lane Theater (with an official opening set, appropriately enough, on Labor Day). At a recent press rehearsal, TheaterMania spoke with co-authors (and real-life couple) Catherine Capellaro and Andrew Rohn, director Daniel Goldstein, and co-stars Cheryl Freeman and Nikki M. James, about this irreverent yet serious look at the life of the Wal-Mart employee.
