Preliminary casting has been announced for some of the shows to be presented in the New York Musical Theatre Festival, which runs at various Manhattan venues, September 17-October 14.

Lea DeLaria, Ashlie Atkinson, Ruben Flores, and Eric Michael Gillett will be among the cast of Roller Derby, to be directed by Donald McKayle. Brad Oscar, Liz Larsen, and Lynne Wintersteller will headline Noel Katz's Such Good Friends, about a trio of television folk caught up in the blacklist. Kate Shindle and Megan Lawrence will headline Sympathy Jones, about a receptionist who decides to become a spy. Deirdre O'Connell, Eli Schneider, and former American Idol contestant Marisa Rhodes star in Kyle Jarrow's Love Kills, based on the real-life story of young murderers Charlie Starkweather and Caril Fugate.

Nancy Anderson, Christiane Noll, and Patrick Ryan Sullivan will headline Marcus Hummon's The Piper, a Victorian melodrama about a woman who runs a boarding house for prostitutes in 19th-century Boston. Stephanie D'Abruzzo will appear in Austentatious, which focuses on a community theater group's production of Pride and Prejudice. Sandy Rustin, Jordan Gelber, David Rossmer, Juliana Ashley Hansen, and Nicholas Ardell will co-star in I See London, I See France (The Underwear Musical), about an ad executive who falls in love with an underwear model. Jason Tam, Cassiie Levy, Patrick Boll, Yuka Takara, and Jill Abramovitz will co-star in The Yellow Wood.

As previously announced, Grease: You're The One That I Want finalists Austin Miller and Kate Rockwell will co-star in Tully (In No Particular Order), about a man who has lost his memory. Barry Pearl, who played Doody in the film version of Grease, will co-star in Bruce Kimmel's sci-fi spoof The Brain from Planet X. Amanda Watkins and Jesse Busch will co-star in the two-hander The Angle of the Sun.
