Tony Award winner Bill Irwin will be part of The New York Clown Theatre Festival, which will take place at the Brick Theatre in Williamsburg, September 1-24. The festival will include nearly two dozen mainstage performances from companies from five countries, 19 cabaret performances, and a variety of workshops and lectures.

Irwin will lead a "Celebrity Clown Panel" at 4:30pm on Sunday, September 10. He will be joined by David Shiner, with whom he created the Tony-winning show Fool Moon, Sue Morrison, Chris Bayes, and others. Irwin won the Tony Award for his performance as George in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, and will headline the upcoming national tour of the show with Kathleen Turner.

The festival will kick off with a special event at 5pm on September 1, when everyone is urged to board the L train and receive their free clown nose. Participants will then get off the train at the Bedford Avenue stop, and walk along with 100 clowns and a marching band over to the theater, where they can take part in a free pie fight.
