Carol Burnett, Kristin Chenoweth, Cheyenne Jackson, Idina Menzel, et al. Set for Season 2 of Glee

Award-winning actress Carol Burnett will guest star on FOX’s Glee this season, according to EW.com. She will play the mother of coach Sue Sylvester, played by Jane Lynch.

As previously reported, the show will begin airing its second season on Tuesday, September 21 at 8pm, which will be its time slot for the first part of the 2010-2011 season. The show will return to its original slot of Wednesdays at 9pm sometime in 2011.

The show, created by Ryan Murphy, recently earned 19 Emmy Award nominations, including nods for Lynch, as well as Lea Michele, Matthew Morrison, Chris Colfer, and Mike O’Malley.

The series also stars Cory Monteith, Dianna Agron, Jayma Mays, Kevin McHale, Mark Salling, Amber Riley, Jessalyn Gislig, Heather Morris, Naya Rivera, and Jenna Ushkowitz. Recording artist Charice and Nickelodeon star Chord Overstreet will also have recurring roles this season.

As previously reported, Broadway star Cheyenne Jackson will join the cast as the new coach of rival group Vocal Adrenaline, and Tony Award winners Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel will both return as guest stars.

Other confirmed guests include Broadway veteran John Stamos and film star Javier Bardem, and pop music star Susan Boyle may make an appearance. It has not yet been determined if Neil Patrick Harris (who also received an Emmy nomination) will return.

Murphy has already confirmed that one episode will feature the songs of Britney Spears, while another will pay tribute to The Rocky Horror Picture Show.The series has already spawned four hit CDs, with more recordings planned for the coming season.
