Sheila Callaghan Among Princess Grace Award Winners

The recipients of 2008 Princess Grace Awards have been announced. The awards will be presented at a black-tie gala, held in the presence of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, on October 15 at Cipriani 42nd Street.

Princess Grace Awards recipients in theater include Shelia Callaghan, winner of a "Works in Progress" award for playwriting, as well as Arin Arbus, Jaime Castañeda, Ben Gunderson, Patrick Kennelly, Arnulfo Maldonado, Kaneza Schaal, Kara Lee Corthron, Maureen C. Huskey, Thomas Pasculli, Ashley Sparks, and Damon E. Williams.

The annual awards are presented by the Princess Grace Foundation-USA in theater, dance, and film. This year's Princess Grace Statue Awards, which include a $25,000 unrestricted cash gift and a special Bronze Statue of Princess Grace, will go to media artist Rose Bond and production designer and art director Alexander (Alec) T. Hammond.

Past recipients of Princess Grace Awards in theater are August: Osage County director Anna D. Shapiro, Pulitzer and Tony Award winning playwright Tony Kushner, and Academy Award winner Eric Simonson.
