 | | Deborah Abramson | Charlie Brady, Katie Clarke, Megan Lawrence, and Chip Zien will star in the Barrington Stage Company Musical Theatre Lab's Travels With My Discontent: A New Musical Revue, July 26-August 6. The show replaces the previously announced Meet Mister Future in the Lab's schedule.
Featuring music by Deborah Abramson and lyrics by Abramson, William Finn, Peter Mills, Nathan Tysen, and Amanda Yesnowitz, the revue will be directed by Finn. Abramson is the recipient of ASCAP's Max Dreyfus Award and The Dramatists Guild's Jonathan Larson fellowship. Her work as musical director or associate musical director includes Lincoln Center Theater's Bernarda Alba and Dessa Rose, James Joyce's The Dead, and My Life With Albertine.
The design team for Travels With My Discontent includes Brian Prather (scenic design), Alejo Vietti (costumes), and D. Benjamin Courtney (lighting). The production's musical director is J. Oconer Navarro.
Brady is currently featured at Barrington in The Burnt Part Boys. Clarke was recently seen on Broadway as Clara in The Light in the Piazza. Lawrence was a Tony Award nominee for her performance as Gladys in the recent Broadway revival of The Pajama Game; her other New York credits include Urinetown and Two Gentlemen of Verona. Zien has appeared on Broadway in such shows as Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Into the Woods, and Falsettos.
In related news, the run of The Burnt Part Boys has been extended through Saturday, July 15. Directed by Joe Calarco, the show features a book by Mariana Elder, music by Chris Miller, and lyrics by Nathan Tysen. Also, Disorder: A Mother-Daughter Vaudeville will play at the Lab from August 17 through 27; with book and lyrics by Katie Baldwin, music by Gihieh Lee, and lyrics by Julianne Davis, the show will be directed by Jack Cummings III, co-artistic director of The Transport Group, whose credits include The Audience, First Lady Suite, and Normal. Disorder replaces the previously announced Dogs That Wear Hats in the Lab's schedule.
