Betty Buckley, Tommy Tune, et al. Set for Brooklyn Center’s 2010-2011 Season

Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts has announced programming for its 2010-2011 season.

Nine-time Tony Award winner Tommy Tune will bring his retrospective show, Steps In Time: A Broadway Biography in Song and Dance to Brooklyn Center on Sunday, November 14 at 3pm. He will be joined by longtime collaborators The Manhattan Rhythm Kings for a personal look back at his incredible career.

Tony Award winner Betty Buckley will head Brooklyn Center’s Annual Gala Fundraiser on Saturday, April 9 at 8pm, with her cabaret show, Broadway by Request, featuring selections picked by the audience from her illustrious Broadway career in landmark musicals. A portion of every ticket sale goes to support Brooklyn Center’s educational programs.

Theater-related events during the 2010-2011 season will also include Aquila Theatre’s production of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream (October 17), Cirque Le Masque in Carnivale (October 31), The Colonial Nutcracker (December 12), Seussical (January 30), ‘S Wonderful (March 20), Theatreworks USA’s The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (April 10), The Russian National Ballet Theatre’s Swan Lake (April 17), and American Family Theater’s production of Beauty and the Beast (May 22).

Additional programming will include Tom Chapin (October 3), Klezmer Conservatory Band (October 24), Tito Puente Jr. Orchestra (November 6), A Brooklyn Gospel Celebration
(November 7), Philadanco (November 20), Take 6 in We Wish You a Merry Christmas (December 11), MLK Jr. Celebration (January 17), Gregory Isaacs (February 12), American Big Band (February 20), Tango Buenos Aires in The Fire and Passion of Tango (February 26), United States Military Academy Band (February 27), Ladysmith Black Mambazo (March 19), Soh Daiko Taiko Drum Ensemble (March 27), and the Fourth Annual National Grid Earth Day Celebration (April 10).
