Renee Allen, Stanley Bahorek, Jane Blass, Scott Davidson, Jeff Essex, John Herrera, Christine Pedi, Faith Prince, Christina Sivrich, Gordon Stanley, Stephanie Umoh, and Darryl Winslow will be featured in York Theatre Company's developmental reading of Luck, to be held at the company's home space at the Theatre at Saint Peter's on July 9 at 3 pm.

Based on a story by Isaac Bashevis Singer, the show features book and lyrics by Mark Waldrop with music by Bradford Ross. In this fractured folktale, Mazil and Shlimazel, the spirits of Good Luck and Bad Luck, make a bet to determine who is the most powerful.

York's reading series will also include Spirits, featuring a book by Reyn Guyer and Jeff Harrington, music by Jeff Harrington, and Lyrics by Reyn Guyer (July 14); Breath and Imagination: The Story of Roland Hayes, with book by Daniel Beaty (July 16); Exit Music, with music by James Merillat, lyrics by Dick Pasqual, and book by Dick Pasqual & James Merillat, based on the short story, "Me and the Girls" by Noël Coward (July 23); and One of Us, a musical based on the Life of Post-impressionist Artist, Suzanne Valadon, featuring book by C.F. Balducci with music and lyrics by Carmel Owen (July 27).
