Jason Alexander will play the role Pangloss in a concert version of Candide, featuring the National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) and the Wolf Trap Opera Company (July 6); Marvin Hamlisch will led the NSO in This Way to Broadway (July 12); Eric Idle will join the NSO for Not the Messiah (He's a Very Naughty Boy (July 24); and Susan Egan, Rob Evan, Capathia Jenkins, and Doug LaBrecque will take part in Broadway Rocks! (July 26).
Other highlights of the month include Sergio Mendes with Zap Mama (July 1); Lyle Lovett and his Large Band (July 2); Donna Summer (July 5); Ani DiFranco (July 7); the Paul Taylor Dance Company (July 8); the rock group Chicago (July 9), Dame Kiri Te Kanawa (July 11); and Hootie & The Blowfish (July 13).
