GAYFEST NYC Announces Casting for This One Girl’s Story Musical

GAYFEST NYC has announced casting for the new musical, This One Girl’s Story, to be presented at the Abingdon Theatre Arts Complex, May 27-June 6. Featuring a book by by Bil Wright, with music and lyrics by Dionne McClain-Freeney, the production will be directed by Devanand Janki with musical direction by J. Oconer Navarro.

Inspired by the true life story of Sakia Gunn, the musical is about four girls out on the town, laughing and loving, until a senseless crime of hate turns a night of joy into tragedy.

The cast will feature Tanesha Gary as Promise, Chasten Harmon as Patrice, Zonya Love Johnson as Dessa, Lacretta Nicole as Cee Cee, Desirée Rodriguez as Lourdes, and Charles E. Wallace as State’s Attorney Craig/Club Bouncer/Mickey. The creative team will include Michael Hotopp (set), T. Michael Hall (costumes), and Jesse Belsky (lights).

All proceeds from GAYFEST NYC benefit the Harvey Milk High School, a fully-accredited, voluntary NYC public high school focused on the educational needs of teenagers who are in crisis or at risk of physical violence and/or emotional harm in a traditional educational environment.
