TV icon and Broadway veteran Rue McClanahan will make a special guest appearance in Del Shores' otherwise solo show, Del Shores The Storyteller to be presented for two benefit performances at TBG Arts Center, on June 6 at 7:30 and 10:30 pm. Proceeds will benefit NYC's Harvey Milk High School.

This unscripted piece features the award-winning playwright, TV and film writer, director, and producer sharing real life stories that have inspired his writing. Shores is best known for his 2001 cult classic film Sordid Lives, based on his play, which has now also become a television series on MTV/LOGO. Other plays by Shores include Southern Baptist Sissies, The Trials and Tribulations of a Trailer Trash Housewife, and Daddy's Dyin' (Who's Got The Will?).

McClanahan, who appears in the Sordid Lives series, is well known for her role on the long-running TV series The Golden Girls. Her Broadway credits include Wicked, The Women, California Suite, Sticks and Bones, Father's Day, and Jimmy Shine.

The event is being presented as part of the third annual GAYFEST NYC, a festival of new gay-themed plays, to be presented June 3-6, at the Abingdon Theatre Arts Complex. The festival will also include free performances of Mother Tongue by F.J. Hartland (June 3) and The Legacy by Adam Siegel (June 4).
