John Altieri, who played Bob Crewe in the national tour and Las Vegas production of Jersey Boys, died of pneumonia on Sunday, May 4 in Las Vegas. He was 38.
A native of Brockton, Massaschusetts and a graduate of Duke University, he worked as an actor and director with numerous L.A.-based theater companies, including The Blank Theatre, A Noise Within, Sacred Fools, Zoo District, The Odyssey Theater Ensemble and Circle X theater companies. He also appeared in productions with San Diego Rep, Long Beach Opera, San Jose Rep, and Santa Barbara CLO.
In addition, Altieri had also been a teacher and director for Idyllwild Arts Academy, Shakespeare on the Green in Lake Forest Illinois and with U.C.L.A.'s graduate and undergraduate acting programs, and volunteered as director and coach for The Arc of San Francisco, a nonprofit organization that serves and supports individuals with developmental disabilities.
He is survived by his parents Charles and Eileen Altieri, his brother Charles, his sister Mary and her husband John and their four sons.
