Casting Complete for London Production of Wicked, Starring Menzel and Dallimore

Full casting has been announced for the London production of Wicked, which will begin performances at the Apollo Victoria Theatre on September 7 and will open officially on September 27.

Tony Award winner Idina Menzel will recreate her role of Elphaba, the eventual Wicked of the West, through January; then she will be replaced by her standby, Kerry Ellis. Helen Dallimore will make her West End debut as Glinda. Other principal casting: Adam Garcia as Fiyero, Miriam Margolyes as Madame Morrible, Nigel Planer as The Wizard, Katie Rowley Jones as Nessarose, James Gillan as Boq, and Martin Ball as Doctor Dillamond. Annalene Beechey will be the standby for Glinda.

The company also includes Simon Adkins, Paul Ayres, Joseph Connor, Nadine Cox, Sarah Earnshaw, Jye Frasca, Maria Graciano, Nicky Griffiths, Simon Hardwick, Pippa Higgs, Melissa Hunte, Cassidy Janson, Caroline Keiff, Joshua Lacey, Andy Mace, Dominic Shaw, Philippa Stefani, Craig Stein, Oliver Tompsett, Tim Walton, and Kerry Washington.

Adapted from Gregory Maguire's novel,Wicked has a book by Winnie Holzman, music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz. The creative team of the London production will be the same as that of the Broadway show: Joe Mantello (director), Wayne Cilento (musical staging), Eugene Lee (scenic design), Susan Hilferty (costumes), and Kenneth Posner (lighting).
