Edward Albee Wins Edward MacDowell Medal

Playwright Edward Albee has won the McDowell Colony’s Edward MacDowell Medal for outstanding achievement in his field, according to The Associated Press.


Albee, who has won numerous Pulitzer Prizes and Tony Awards, has written such plays as The Zoo Story, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, A Delicate Balance, Seascape, Tiny Alice, The Play About the Baby, and Me, Myself, and I.


Previous winners of the MacDowell medal include Merce Cunningham, Thornton Wilder and Leonard Bernstein.
