Michael Mayer, John Patrick Shanley, Patrica Wettig, et al. Set for NYS&F’s Powerhouse Season

New York Stage and Film has announced the preliminary lineup of its Powerhouse Theater season, running June 25- August 1 at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York.

Pulitzer Prize winner John Patrick Shanley’s new work Pirate and Tracy Thorne’s We Are Here will be the two plays which will be presented on the company’s mainstage this summer.

Other projects which will be seen during the Powerhouse season include Tony Award winner Michael Mayer’s re-envisioning and reincarnation of Alan Jay Lerner and Burton Lane’s musical On a Clear Day You Can See Forever, as well as workshops of Seth Zvi Rosenfeld’s Handball; Maria Cassi and Patrick Pacheco’s My Life with Men – and other Animals; Keith Bunin’s Sam Bendrix at the Bon Soir; and Bonfire Night by Justin Levine, to be directed by Alex Timbers.

Two festivals of readings will open and close the Powerhouse season,and will include new plays from writers such as Romulus Linney, Richard Nelson, Patricia Wettig, and Stephen Karam, among others, as well as a new screenplay by Jennifer Westfeldt.

The Powerhouse season will also feature performances of Romeo and Juliet and Sophie Treadwell’s Machinal from the Powerhouse Apprentice Company.
