Primary Stages will conclude its 25th anniversary season with a celebrity benefit staged reading performance of Tom Fontana’s Godfather IV, to be presented at 59E59 Theaters on May 2 at 3pm and 7pm. Linda Laundra will direct the readings, which will feature music by Stephen Elkins and benefit both Primary Stages and the Writers Guild of America, East Foundation.

The play finds three actors from the HBO series Oz sitting in a diner, talking about their careers and the works of various screen immortals. When one of the trio attacks the plausibility of the Jack Woltz scene in the movie The Godfather, the other two decide to “re-enact” the scene by sneaking a horse’s head into the first man’s bed.

The company for the readings will include Christopher Meloni, Lee Tergesen, and Dean Winters, along with Mike Doyle, Zeljko Ivanek, Terry Kinney, David Laundra, Kristin Rohde, Eamonn Walker, and Catherine Wolf, with a special appearance by Fontana.
