Original Spelling Bee Cast to Play L.A.'s Wadsworth Theatre

The original Broadway cast of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee will reunite for the show's production at the Wadsworth Theatre, May 24-June 17. As on Broadway, the production will be directed by James Lapine.

The cast will feature Derrick Baskin (Mitch Mahoney), Deborah S. Craig (Marcy Park), Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Leaf Coneybear), Dan Fogler (William Barfee), Lisa Howard (Rona Lisa Peretti), Celia Keenan-Bolger (Olive Ostrovsky), Jose Llana (Chip Tolentino), Jay Reiss (Douglas Panch), and Sarah Saltzberg (Logainne Schwartzandgrubenierre).

The show was conceived by Rebecca Feldman. It features a score by William Finn and a book by Rachel Sheinkin, with additional material by Jay Reiss. The creative team includes Dan Knetcheges (choreography), Beowulf Boritt (sets), Jennifer Caprio (costunes), Natasha Katz (lighting), and Dan Moses Schreier (sound).

Spelling Bee was nominated for six Tony Awards, including Best Musical; Fogler won as Best Featured Actor in a Musical and Sheinkin took home the trophy for Best Book of a Musical.
