Barron, Gross, Nelis, Parisse, et al. Set for Humana Festival

Casting and creative teams have been announced for the first two plays at the 32nd Annual Humana Festival of New American Plays, to take place February 24-March 30 at the Actors Theatre of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky.

Halley Wegryn Gross and Tom Nelis will star in Lee Blessing's Great Falls, about a man who drives across the West with his young stepdaughter. The production will be directed by Lucie Tiberghein and features set design by Paul Owen, costume design by Lorraine Venberg, lighting design by Brian J. Lilienthal, and sound design by Matt Callaghan.

Mia Barron, David Wilson Barnes, Janis Dardaris, and Davis Duffield will join Annie Parisse, who will play the title role in Gina Gionfriddo's Becky Shaw, about a newlywed couple who fix up two romantically challenged friends. The production will be directed by Peter DuBois and feature set design by Owen, lighting design by Lilienthal, costume design by Jessica Ford, and sound design by Benjamin Marcum.

The festival will continue with This Beautiful City, a musical by Steven Casson, Jim Lewis, and Michael Friedman of The Civilians, based on interviews done in Colorado Springs; hip-hop performer Marc Bamhuti Joseph's the break/s; Cathy Mensch's All Hail Hurricane Gordo, about two brothers who take in a plucky houseguest; and Jennifer Haley's Neighborhood 3: Requisitions of Doom, about a group of suburban teenagers addicted to an online horror video game; four performances of Game On, co-written by Zakiyah Alexander, Rolin Jones, Alice Tuan, Daryl Wilson, Marisa Wegrzyn, and Ken Weitzman, with music by Jon Spurney, as well as the annual Ten-Minute Plays, which will include works by M. Thomas Cooper, Elaine Jarvik, Michael Lew, and Naomi Wallace.
