Alec Baldwin to Host New York Philharmonic Broadcasts; 2009-2010 Season Announced

Emmy Award winner and Broadway veteran Alec Baldwin has been named the host of The New York Philharmonic’s national radio broadcast The New York Philharmonic This Week for the 2009-2010 season.

The season will begin on September 12 with a free day of rehearsals, performances, lectures, and educational activities, under the leadership of music director Alan Gilbert at Avery Fisher Hall.

Thomas Hampson will be the orchestra’s artist in-residence, and Magnus Lindbeg will be composer-in-residence. Artists who will appear with the orchestra this season will include Renee Fleming, Joshua Bell, Emanuel Ax, Susan Graham, Anthony Dean Griffey, Yefim Bronfman, Gil Shaham, Andras Schiff, and Waltraud Meier; while conductors will include Ricardo Muti, Kurt Masur, Esa-Pekka Salonen, and Xian Zhang.
