Kate Baldwin, Andrea Burns, Natascia Diaz, Georgia Engel, Sarah Litzsinger, and Ken Page are among the nominees for the first annual Kevin Kline Awards, honoring the best in St. Louis theater. The awards will be presented on Monday, March 20 at the Roberts Orpheum Theater. Jason Danieley, who starred on Broadway in The Full Monty and Candide, will host the event; and Kline, the Tony Award- and Oscar-winning actor for whom the awards are named, will make an appearance.

Thirty seven plays and musicals shared in the 113 nominations, spread out over 22 categories. The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis picked up 30 nominations, including 11 for its production of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and nine for its production of Take Me Out. The Stages St. Louis production of Hello, Dolly! received 11 nominations, and the Shakespeare Festival of St. Louis production of The Tempest received eight.

Baldwin, Burns, Diaz, Engel, Litzinger, and Page were all nominated for their work at the MUNY, the city's outdoor ampitheater. Baldwin played Maria in The Sound of Music, Burns and Diaz co-starred in West Side Story, Engel appeared in Mame, Litzsinger reprised her Broadway role of Belle in Beauty and the Beast, and Page was seen in Jesus Christ Superstar.
