WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Julie Halston will star in a developmental production of Roberto Athayde's Miss Margarida's Way at Bay Street Theatre, August 19-29. Daniel Goldstein will direct.
The play explores the balance of power between an unruly classroom and a teacher on the edge. The satirical play premiered in Brazil in 1973 and was immediately banned by the military dictatorship in power. A censored version was eventually allowed, but the controversy had already led to international interest and many productions, including on Broadway.
