Deeply informed period performance practices, the Benvenue Fortepiano Trio (Huggett, Tomkins, Zivian) tackle Schumann and Mendelssohn on their own turf. Opening fresh paths into this music, the spontaneity and collaborative spirit with which this trio performs these works on instruments of the period (including a mid-19th century fortepiano) is revelatory.
