WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Giving audiences the opportunity to listen in on a conversation with two great artists, both of whom know and understand one another's work, the Conversations at Riverspace series reunites Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Edward Albee and Tony Award-winning actor Bill Irwin. In addition, esteemed actress Marian Seldes will join Mr. Irwin on stage during parts of the interview to perform selected material by Mr. Albee.

Edward Albee is the author of the landmark play Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?; Bill Irwin won a Best Actor Tony Award for his searing performance in the play's acclaimed 2005 Broadway revival; Marian Seldes earned a Tony Award in 1967 for her performance in the original Broadway production of Albee's A Delicate Balance.

The Conversations at Riverspace series brings together the Larchmont-reared Albee with Irwin, a longtime Nyack resident, to discuss the playwright's 50-year career as one of the world's leading dramatists. Albee is a three-time Pulitzer Prize recipient for his plays A Delicate Balance, Seascape, and Three Tall Women (a play that looked posthumously at the life of his adoptive mother, Frances Reid Albee, who lived most of her life in Larchmont). In addition, Albee is a two-time Tony winner for his plays Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and The Goat in 2002.

Mr. Irwin -- who played George opposite Kathleen Turner's Martha in Who's Afriad of Virginia Woolf? on Broadway, in London and on U.S. national tour -- made his debut in an Albee play opposite Sally Field in 2002's The Goat on Broadway.
