Harbor Lights Will Offer "Kid's Day" Performance of It's a Wonderful Life

The Staten Island-based theater company will enact the popular story in a “live-radio” format for 12 performances.

Harbor Lights Theater Company will perform It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play at the Snug Harbor Cultural Center's Veterans Memorial Hall Playhouse in Staten Island, New York, from December 6-22. Children 12 and under will be admitted for half price on December 7 to the one-day-only Kid's Day performance. Kids will be allowed backstage after the show to get a firsthand look at how sound effects are created.

The play, based on the classic Frank Capra film, tells the story of George Bailey, a small-town businessman who on one fateful day is given the chance to see what life would be like if he had never existed. Harbor Lights will perform the holiday favorite as if it were taking place in a radio studio, with five actors playing all the characters, in addition to one Foley artist, an actor who creates sound effects live onstage.

It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play is directed by Stephen Nachamie. Casting will be announced at a later date.
