WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
This engagement has been indefinitely postponed.
Daryl Roth and Jordan Roth present the world premiere of The Mambo Kings, based on the Pulitzer Prize winning novel The Mambo Kings Play Songs of Love by Oscar Hijuelos and the Academy Award nominated Warner Brothers film, The Mambo Kings. The musical has a book by Oscar Hijuelos and Arne Glimcher, music by Carlos Franzetti, and lyrics by Arne Glimcher. Glimcher directs, with choreography by Sergio Trujillo.
The Mambo Kings chronicles the journey of the Castillo brothers (Caesar and Nestor), from Havana in the early 1950's to the stages of the grand dance clubs of New York City. There, they lead the onstage big band and follow their women in a sensual dance of romance and passion, all set to a sizzling Latin score. Mambo, rhumba, cha-cha -- all the rhythms of Cuba tell a tale of brotherhood, loyalty and love that knows no bounds.
Beginning September 5, the show will be performed Tuesdays through Saturdays at 8 pm with matinees Wednesdays and Saturdays at 2 pm and Sundays at 3 pm.
