WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

This series brings together prominent New Yorkers from the world of Arts & Letters with Japanese artists to discuss engaging and timely issues and ideas of global significance.

Steve Reich, a pioneer of Minimalist style of music, recently called "our greatest living composer" by The New York Times, will reflect on his experiences performing in Japan and in dialogue with Nobukazu Takemura, a Japanese musician whose eclectic style defies easy categorization, discuss post-minimalism, emerging trends in contemporary classical music and their collaboration on Reich Remixed.

This evening is moderated by John Schaefer, host and producer of WNYC's radio program New Sounds.
