WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
If it's autumn in New York, then Paula West must be at the Oak Room at the Algonquin Hotel. The critically acclaimed San Francisco-based jazz vocalist with "a winning combination of Nancy Wilson-like èlan and mountain-spring diction" (The New Yorker), returns to the legendary venue for her annual New York engagement. Backed by the George Mesterhazy Quartet, Ms. West presents Something Good, an eclectic evening of songs by Brian Wilson, Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Hank Williams, Elvis Costello and The Rolling Stones. In addition, she will also offer such standards as "Isn't It Romantic," "Miss Brown To You," "Crazy Rhythm" and "Nature Boy." Time Out magazine calls her annual visits to the Algonquin "the year's most satisfying evening of cabaret."
