WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Grammy-winning singer-songwriter-actress Lari White makse her New York cabaret debut in a new show, My First Affair... featuring such classics as Rodgers & Hart's "Falling in Love with Love," Gershwin & Arlen's "Gotta Have Me Go With You," Rodgers & Hammerstein's "Cockeyed Optimist," Johnny Cash's "All Over Again," Marilyn & Alan Bergman's "Where Is It Written?" and "A Piece of Sky" and Stephen Schwartz' "Forgiveness' Embrace," among others.
The musical director is Don Rebic, with Steve Doyle on bass and Eric Michael Gillette as director.

If the director Bartlett Sher is in town and if he hasn't decided on his Nellie Forbush for the upcoming Lincoln Center revival of South Pacific, may I humbly suggest that he hotfoot it over to the Algonquin Hotel's Oak Room, where Grammy Award winner and (briefly) Broadway star Lari White is making a most auspicious cabaret debut in a show cheekily entitled
My First Affair, which runs only through March 3.
Mind you, the thought has occurred to me before that this Southern-bred, Nashville-based, country-and-gospel singer has the ideal mix of down-home charm and a killer set of pipes to be a great Nurse Nellie. And ironically, it wasn't her joyous rendition of one of Nellie's signature songs[...]
