WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
2009 Bistro Award winner and 2009 MAC Award nominee, Kim Smith, charts a dark and whimsical path through the arrivals and departures of a neo-Weimar, musical misfit in "Morphium;" his latest sauntering jaunt through life's shadowy alleyways. Jerry Steichen accompanies on piano.
Hailed as "A new breed of cabaret star!" (MCV Magazine, Melbourne) in his native Australia, Kim Smith returns to the venerable cabaret hotspot Don't Tell Mama, with his celebrated Neo-Weimar cabaret, "Morphium."
Singing in German, French and English, Mr. Smith has chosen a compelling international collection of songs to showcase his extraordinary range as singer and actor, reinterpreting works by Weimar-era composers, and modern-day artists alike, including: Friedrich Hollaender, Mischa Spoliansky, Rudolph Nelson, The Supremes, Kylie Minogue, The Divinyls, Harold Arlen and myriad glittering others.
