WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

The American Musicals Project (AMP) presents its annual benefit gala: George Gershwin's Song-book.

The program features Gershwin's own arrangements for 18 of his favorite songs, unavailable since he played them on his famous 1934 concert tour, after which he handed the arrangements over to Simon and Schuster. The performance is directed by Scott Alan Evans, and stars Broadway actor Victoria Clark and pianist Linda Hall, assistant conductor of the Metropolitan Opera. Supporter Isabella Rossellini is expected to attend.

Every year, the American Musicals Project celebrates great composing artists of the musical theater with a series of live concerts at the New-York Historical Society. The AMP also produces a creative educational curriculum that promotes the study of History and English through musical theater to seventh and eighth grade students in the New York City public schools.
