WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
City that Drinks the Mountain Sky is a vivid story of the New York metro water system. Poetry, music and puppets give us a visual of how the water from the great Catskill Mountains supplies New York City's intricate water delivery system. The tale begins with the melting of the glaciers, taking us back to a fascinating time before humans roamed the earth. Next, we are whisked to the 1600 and 1700s to the purchase of New York and the settlement of the Catskills. Then to the 1800s, where we see the influx of immigrants lead to the rent wars in the Catskills and water shortages throughout the state. In the 1900s, thousands of workers are hired to build six reservoirs
