On December 10, the New School for Drama held a cocktail reception in honor of its artist-in-residence, Doug Hughes (right). Here's the Tony Award-winning director with Robert LuPone, the school's director.

















Some of the theater world's greatest stars came out to honor Hughes, including Tony winner Matthew Broderick...


















...the fabulous Laila Robins, the sublime Kathleen Chalfant -- soon to co-star in Sarah Ruhl's Dead Man's Cell Phone at Playwrights Horizons -- and the wonderful Robert Cuccioli, who's currently headlining Man of La Mancha at the White Plains Performing Arts Center...














...and the always brilliant Blythe Danner, who recently starred in a reading of the Broadway-bound Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?





















On Sunday, December 9, the cast of the hit Broadway musical The Drowsy Chaperone celebrated the holidays at Hell's Kitchen eatery 44 1/2. Here's Cindy Williams, who bows in the role of ditzy Mrs. Tottendale tonight, with current "Man in Chair" Bob Saget.


















Mari Davi and Troy Britton Johnson, who play onstage lovebirds Janet and Robert, were clearly enjoying themselves...



















...as was the wonderfully wacky JoAnne Worley, who played her last performance as Mrs. Tottendale earlier that day.



















On Thursday, December 6, Conor McPherson's The Seafarer opened on Broadway, bringing out a passel of celebrities, including two celebrated couples: Bobby Cannavale and Alison Pill, who recently co-starred in Mauritius...


















...and Natasha Richardson and Liam Neeson, who last appeared on stage together in the Roundabout's Anna Christie.



















The opening night crowd also included Oliver Platt, who starred in McPherson's Shining City on Broadway...






















...and one of his co-stars from that production, Peter Scanavino.



















Other first-nighters included handsome Barrett Foa, who will star later this season Off-Broadway in Adam Bock's The Drunken City...






















...the ever-suave Roger Rees, who's starring in the L.A. Theatre Works' production of Major Barbara later this week...





















...and stage and screen favorite John Shea.


















Finally, here's the author (front center) surrounded by his brilliant cast: Ciaran Hinds, David Morse, Conleth Hill, Jim Norton, and Sean Mahon.
