Annie Potts, best known for her starring role on the TV sitcom Designing Women, will play the lead in the Pasadena Playhouse production of Howard Michael Gould's Diva, January 20-February 19. David Lee will direct the show.

Diva is a behind-the-scenes look at an egomaniacal television star who drives her producer and co-workers to the breaking point. The show had a developmental production at the Williamstown Theatre Festival in July 2001, starring Bebe Neuwirth; its official world premiere came later that year at the La Jolla Playhouse, with Susan Blakely in the lead.

Potts was seen Off-Broadway in The Vagina Monologues. She has starred in several TV series, including Any Day Now and Love & War, and has appeared in the films Ghostbusters, Jumping Jack Flash, and Pretty in Pink.
