A special event announcing the series was held on November 19 and featured a special appearance by Tony Award winner Bernadette Peters. "I've lived in this neighborhood for over 20 years and having been coming to performances here for over 30 years," Peters told TheaterMania. "I think it's one of the most creative and inspiring places in the world, and I love that they are always trying to do new things."
The Atrium, which will officially open to the public on December 17, was designed by Tod Williams and Billie Tsien. It will feature ticket booths, vertical gardens, a 44-foot media wall, free public seating, free WiFi, a Wichcraft cafe, and other amenities. It is named for Rubinstein, who is Vice Chairman of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.
