Brian Stokes Mitchell Featured on Mormon Tabernacle Choir Christmas CD

By Andy Propst • Nov 3, 2009 • New York

Tony Award winner Brian Stokes Mitchell joins the Mormon Tabernacle Choir on the new CD Ring Christmas Bells. The 16-track disc is comprised of live recordings from the choir's 2008 Christmas concert from Temple Square.

On the disc, Mitchell delivers Maury Yeston's "New Words," in addition to Bach's "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desirinig" and Mack Wilberg's new arrangement of "The Friendly Beasts." Other selections include the choir's renditions of "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen," "I Saw Three Ships," "Sleigh Ride," and "Angels, from the Realms of Glory," as well as organist Richard Elliott's solo "Go, Tell It on the Mountain."

The full concert is also available on DVD, under the same title, which includes actor Edward Herrmann's narration of the story behind Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day."
