The American Opera Projects will present workshop productions of Stephen Schwartz's opera Séance on a Wet Afternoon at 8pm on Friday, November 21 at Manhattan's Angel Orensaz Center and 8pm on Saturday, November 22 at its home in the South Oxford Space in Fort Greene, Brooklyn.

Based on the novel by Mark McShane and the award-winning screen adaptation by Bryan Forbes, Séance is a psychological thriller about a spiritual medium who kidnaps a girl in order to gain fame by "finding" her through her séances.

Schwartz is the composer of such Broadway hits as Wicked, Pippin, and Godspell; his film scores include Pocahontas, for which he won the Academy Award, and the current hit Enchanted.

The cast will feature Lauren Flanigan, Hila Plitman, Caroline Worra, Jessica Miller, Ory Brown, Michael Zegarski, Daniel Hoy, Madeline Marquis, John Kimberling, and Maeve Hoglund accompanied by Charity Wicks and Chris Cooley, pianists. Valéry Ryvkin will be the music director for both performances.
