Loni Ackerman, Gwen Hollander, Sally Mayes, Benjamin Schrader, and Lynne Wintersteller will join Richard Maltby, Jr. and David Shire for Broadway Close Up: An Inside Look at the World of Musical Theater, to be presented at Merkin Concert Hall at Kaufman Center, November 3 at 8:00 pm. Gretchen Cryer will host, with musical direction by Patrick Brady.

In addition to talking about their writing careers, Maltby and Shire will perform some songs themselves, including two new ones from their upcoming musical about the Wright Brothers and Amelia Earhart, Take Flight, which they are writing with book writer John Weidman.

Maltby & Shire have collaborated on the musicals Baby, Big, Closer Than Ever, and Starting Here, Starting Now, in addition to working separately on additional projects.
