Dates and theaters have been announced for the UK national tour of Mary Poppins, which finishes its two-year West End run on January 12. Casting will be announced shortly.

The tour will begin at the Theatre Royal Plymouth, June 4-July 5, and will continue at the Birmingham Hippodrome (July 10-September 27), Edinburgh Playhouse (October 1-December 6), Manchester Palace Theatre (December 10-March 7, 2009) and the Wales Millennium Centre Cardiff (March 11-April 18, 2009).

Based on the original children's stories by PL Travers and the Disney film, the musical is co-directed by Richard Eyre and Matthew Bourne, choreographed by Bourne and Stephen Mear, and designed by Bob Crowley. It has a book by Julian Fellowes and new music and lyrics by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, in addition to many of the original film songs by the Sherman Brothers.

In addition to the London production, the show is playing at Broadway's New Amsterdam Theatre, where it opened in November 2006.
