Theater veterans Richard Kind and Michael Stuhlbarg will play brothers in the film A Serious Man, a new black comedy to be written and directed by Oscar winners Joel and Ethan Coen, according to Variety.

Kind's Broadway credits include Sly Fox, The Producers, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, and The Tale of the Allergist's Wife and he has also appeared on stage in Candide and Bounce. He also starred in the long-running ABC sitcom Sin City. Stuhlbarg recently played the title role in the Public Theater's production of Hamlet and received a Tony Award nomination and a Drama Desk Award for The Pillowman.

The Coens won Oscars earlier this year for directing and writing No Country for Old Men, which was also named Best Picture. Their new film Burn After Reading, starring George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and Frances McDormand opens on September 12. Ethan Coen is also the author of Almost an Evening, a group of three short plays that was produced last season by the Atlantic Theater Company.
