The TFANA season will begin with the New York premiere of Orpheus X (December 2-20), featuring original music and text by Rinde Eckert, and direction by Robert Woodruff. The piece reimagines Orpheus as a rock star who trades in the lyre for an electric guitar. It will feature Eckert, Suzan Hanson, and John Kelly in addition to a live band of piano, guitar, viola, percussion, and bass.
The season will continue with Arin Arbus' production of Measure for Measure (February 6-March 14), and Peter Brook's Love Is My Sin (March 27-April 17), his adaptation of Shakespearean sonnets, which will star Brook's wife, Natasha Parry, and Bruce Myers. TFANA also plans to present a Brooks-helmed production of Samuel Beckett's Fragments during the 2010-2011 season.
In addition, TFANA is in discussions with commercial producers to bring back its critically acclaimed productions of Othello and Hamlet. As previously announced, its production of Othello (with a revised cast) plays Seattle's Intiman Theatre, this month.
