Hairspray 2 Film Is In the Works
New Line Cinema is working on Hairspray 2, a sequel to the popular 2007 film based on the original film by John Waters and the Broadway musical, according to Variety.
Waters has been asked to write a treatment, while the film's director-choreographer, Adam Shankman, producers Neil Meron and Craig Zadan, and composer-lyricists Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman are reportedly aboard.
No casting has been announced, but the company would like to reunite the original cast which included John Travolta, Michelle Pfeiffer, Christopher Walken, Amanda Bynes, James Marsden, Queen Latifah, Zac Efron, Brittany Snow, Elijah Kelley, Allison Janney, and Nikki Blonsky.
