Made in New York Benefit Honoring Henry Krieger, LaChanze, Melvin Van Peebles Postponed

As previously announced, the benefit will honor Tony winner LaChanze, Dreamgirls composer Henry Krieger, and Emmy winner Melvin Van Peebles. Norm Lewis had been announced to perform in this evening that was to celebrate New York's African American Broadway tradition with a night of music and dance in a revue style show.
LaChanze won her Tony for her performance in The Color Purple, and will be seen later this month playing Glinda in the Encores! Summer Stars production of The Wiz. Krieger won a Grammy for the cast recording of Dreamgirls, and his other scores include Side Show and Romantic Poetry. Peebles is recognized as one of the most influential people in the history of cinema for his commercialization of both Independent and Black films, including his blockbuster movie Sweet Sweetbacks Baaadasss Song, and will soon be seen Off-Broadway in his new show, Unmitigated Truth" (Life, Loves, a Lavatory & Ladies).
