Carla Ching to Be New Artistic Director of Second Generation Productions

The company was founded in 1997 by then artistic director Welly Yang, and has served as an important incubator of Asian American theatrical talent, developing new plays from a new generation of Asian American dramatists, providing early-career opportunities for young actors, and reaching out to newer and more diverse audiences.
Ching's plays include TBA -- which was the centerpiece of 2G's 2008 festival, Eleven -- along with Dirty, Found Objects, The Ripple Effect, Big Blind/Little Blind, and The Sugar House at the Edge of the Wilderness. Ching has also been a member of the pan-Asian performance collective Peeling, the Ma-Yi Writers Lab, and The Women's Project Lab. She is the recipient of a 2008 Urban Artists Initiative fellowship, a 2009-2010 Teachers and Writers Collaborative Fellowship and a nominee for the 2009 Wasserstein Prize.
