New York School of Interior Design to Present Theatrical by Design Exhibition

New York School of Interior Design will present Theatrical By Design: A Century of The Shubert Organizations Theatre Interiors, which will be on view at the NYSID Gallery, (161 East 69th Street), March 7-April 27. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday, 10am-5pm.

Reagan Fletcher, longtime archivist of the Shubert Archive, curates the exhibition, and has brought together a selection of archival photographs and design documents that show the interiors of the Shubert Organization’s 17 Broadway theatres, focusing on the historic restorations of the Barrymore, the Belasco, the Longacre, the Shubert, and the Winter Garden.

There will also be a discussion with Fletcher (March 28 at 6pm) and a talk by theatre planning and restoration designer Francesca Russo followed by a special book launch for Gerald Schoenfeld’s memoir, Mr. Broadway, The Inside Story of the Shuberts, the Shows, and the Stars (April 11 at 6pm).
