The 2008 Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album has been awarded to In the Heights. The awards are being presented live in Los Angeles and aired by CBS.

The other nominees for Best Show Musical Album were Gypsy, The Little Mermaid, South Pacific, and Young Frankenstein. In the Heights, which features a score by Lin-Manuel Miranda, won the 2008 Tony Award for Best Musical and Best Score.

In addition, the L.A. Opera's recording of Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht's The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny, starring Patti LuPone and Audra McDonald, was named Best Opera Recording and Best Classical Recording.

Other winners include: Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album: Still Unforgettable by Natalie Cole; Best Spoken Word Album: An Inconvenient Truth by Al Gore, spoken by Beau Bridges, Cynthia Nixon, and Blair Underwood; Best R&B Album: Jennifer Hudson by Jennifer Hudson; Best Jazz Vocal Album: Loverly by Cassandra Wilson; Best Traditional Blues Album: by BB King; Best Traditional Folk Album: At 89 by Pete Seeger; Best Comedy Album: Bad for You by the late George Carlin; and Best Children's Album: Here Come the 123s by They Might Be Giants.
