Joshua Bell, Simon Keenlyside, Peter Sellars Set for Lincoln Center’s 2012-2013 Great Performers Season

Lincoln Center has announced artists and events that will be part of its 2012-2013 Great Performers season.

Among the highlights is the New York premiere of John Adams’ oratorio, The Gospel According to the Other Mary (March 27), which features a libretto by Peter Sellars, who will also direct. Gustavo Dudamel will conduct the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

Simon Keenlyside will play the title role in an opera concert of Alban Berg’s Wozzeck (November 18), featuring the Philharmonia Orchestra, conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen. German soprano Angela Denoke will play the title character’s wife, Marie.

The October 19 opening concert of the season will be a performance of two rarely-heard sacred motets by French Baroque composer Marc-Antoine Charpentier: The Prodigal Son and Cecilia, Virgin and Martyr, performed by Les Arts Florissants led by William Christie.

Among the other artists who will be participating are Timothy Andres, Nareh Arghamanyan, Joshua Bell, Ian Bostridge, Budapest Festival Orchestra, Calder Quartet, Calmus vocal ensemble, Claremont Trio, Collegium Vocale Gent Choir and Orchestra, Thomas Dausgaard, Julius Drake, Bernarda Fink, Iván Fischer, Judith Gordon, Hélène Grimaud, Tamar Halperin, Marc-André Hamelin, Philippe Herreweghe, Alina Ibragimova, Janine Jansen, J.P. Jofre Quintet, Vladimir Jurowski, Rob Kapilow, Angelika Kirchschlager, Paul Lewis, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Garrick Ohlsson, Vadim Repin, Andreas Scholl, András Schiff, Anthony Spiri, Nina Stemme, Swedish Chamber Orchestra, Takács Quartet, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Cédric Tiberghien, Vertavo String Quartet, and Ilya Yakushev.
